All classes meet OSHA requirements for CPR. Certification cards, unless otherwise stated, are valid for two years. Classes are also available for Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and individual businesses. We can offer classes at your site or at the Pioneer Center. Skills check off for E-learning offered. Call 509- 338-3227 to make arrangements. Instructor: Judi Dunn Gray Location: Pioneer Center Min 3/Max 20 American Heart Association AHA First Aid & CPR/AED This class is for people that have the skills or are 1st time certifi ers. Class is fast paced and meets all the First Aid, CPR, and AED standards of OSHA and WISHA. Classes are with an instructor that will maximize the learning potential of adults. Class will include Blood Borne Pathogens. Upon completion, each participant will receive an American Heart Association certifi cation good for two years. Remember class time depends upon the number of students and their understanding. These classes also meet the standards for Adult Daycares and Centers. Classes are with an instructor that will maximize the learning potential of adult learners. Upon completion, each participant will receive a Pediatric American Heart Association certifi cation good for two years, which meets requirements for Idaho and Washington childcare providers. Cha-cha, Foxtrot, and Rumba are some of the dances we will be learning, with additional material that you get to help choose. Classes will be focused on learning social ballroom dances that as a group can be applied to almost any music. If you can walk, you can dance! She moved here from her hometown, Spokane, WA, where she owned and operated her own dance studio. In addition, she was head coach for the competitive dance team of Central Valley High School, choreographed for several other schools, and events in the area, including the Spokane Lilac Parade. Brooke's 25+ year background in dance has included dance conventions, involvement in competitions, judging, and educational courses. Brooke is thrilled to involve the community with a safe, fun, active, educational, and aff ordable dance environment for adults. The Parks & Recreation dance program is run very similar to other dance studios. Participants are encouraged to sign up for every dance session, as we will be working and perfecting routines throughout the year. In this casual class, you will have the opportunity to explore various art media. Projects are simple and there is no pressure to create a masterpiece. All supplies included. Instructor: Rhonda Skaggs Location: Red Dog Art Room, Gladish Community & Culture Center, Rm 309 Min 2/Max 6 Th .............Oct 4-Nov 8 ................. 7:00-9:00pm Resident: $70/N-Resident: $72 Shito-Ryu Karate Karate for Kids Students are challenged to maintain or improve their manners, respect for themselves and others, and self- discipline. Flexibility and strengthening exercises are taught along with tumbling maneuvers. Learn self-defense tactics, awareness, and avoidance of risky situations. Basic karate stances, blocks, punches, and kicks are also covered. Caregivers who wish to train with their child are welcome to register in this class. Sep 10-Dec 5 ............. 6:45-7:30pm No class: Nov 12, 19, 21 Resident: $71/N-Resident: $73 Beginning Manners, respect, and self-discipline are emphasized in this traditional Japanese martial art program. Kata (forms), introductory tournament sparring, and basic self-defense techniques are covered. Each class includes 20-30 minutes of aerobic, fl exibility, and strength-building exercises. Attire should be loose fi tting and cool, as the class can be moderately strenuous for those not already in good physical condition. Advancement opportunities are available.
