4 CROWLEY MARITIME CORPORATION Upon departing the sound and entering the Gulf of Alaska, a sentinel tug remains on standby until the vessels are 17 nautical miles from Cape Hinchinbrook. From there, the vessels transit to Washington and California over approximately a week, where the oil is offloaded. The vessels then return to Valdez to load more oil. A Natural Fit For Crowley and SeaRiver, the transaction was natural. Both companies have a long history and commitment to safe and reliable operations in the U.S. maritime industry. "We appreciate SeaRiver's desire to partner with us on this deal. It opens an exciting new chapter in our long history of petroleum transportation while allowing them to continue to move their product safely and reliably," said Tom Crowley, chairman and CEO of Crowley Maritime Corp. "It means a lot that they recognize our shared values and commitment to excellence. Our mariners and shoreside personnel have done a great job integrating these ships into our fleet, and are focused on operating them in the safest, most reliable manner possible." As a key part of the acquisition, Crowley retained many of the mariners who operated the vessel under SeaRiver to ensure a smooth transition. To ensure strong operations management and oversight, CAT established a main office in Bellingham, Wash., and a field office in Valdez, Alaska. To complete the transaction, Crowley received approval of its contingency plan from the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, which reviewed Crowley's incident response plans, personnel and resources to ensure safe operations and environmental protection of Prince William Sound. Crowley transported more than 472 million barrels of petroleum products with zero spills in 2017. BARREL-CARRYING CAPACITY ADMIN.
