Code of Conduct The City of Mercer Island Parks & Recreation Department promotes an atmosphere of community and positive sportsmanship at the facilities, programs and events. We request participants and spectators observe a code of conduct. A copy of the code of conduct is available online at www.miparks.net, is posted at the Mercer Island Community & Event Center, and is distributed by instructors to participants. Holiday Closures • New Year's Day • Martin Luther King Jr. Day • President's Day • Easter Sunday • Memorial Day • Independence Day • Labor Day • Veteran's Day • Thanksgiving Day • Day After Thanksgiving • Christmas Day Beach & Lifeguarding Information Due to insufficient funding, the reduction of Parks & Recreation staff, and the failure of a property tax measure last fall, the City of Mercer Island was forced to make a number of reductions in non-essential programs and services in order to balance the 2019-2020 Biennial Budget. The lifeguarding program has been eliminated and we will no longer staff Groveland and Luther Burbank Park Beaches with lifeguards. Swimming will be at your own risk. Mercer Island Boat Launch The Mercer Island Boat Launch is located directly off of Interstate 90, under the East Channel Bridge (exit #8 from the freeway). Day parking is $11, or an annual pass can be purchased at the Mercer Island Community & Event Center for $70. With two lanes for launching, on-site parking and nearby overflow parking, ADA accessible, a new dock, and an easy-to-use ticket machine accepting debit and credit cards, the Mercer Island Boat Launch is a safe and convenient place to start your day on Lake Washington.
