The company's supply chain solutions can be tailored and scaled to individual, commercial and government customers throughout the U.S., Caribbean, Latin America and even globally. Government and commercial customers also benefit from Crowley's experience and economies of scale resulting from the company's large-scale, coordinated supply chain management services in support of Department of Defense (DoD) activities across the continental U.S., Alaska and Canada. Under the multi-year, $2.3 billion Defense Freight Transportation Services (DFTS) contract, Crowley is moving various types of cargo from thousands of material suppliers through 17 major depots and 24 annexes around the continental U.S to end customers. The program encompasses all forms of transportation, including less- than-truckload (LTL); full truckload (FTL); expedited; time-definite and refrigerated services; rail; and customs clearance service for freight of all kinds (FAK). Some of these moves require specialized equipment (RGN and Lowboys with multiple axles) which is difficult to procure. Delivery locations include vendor facilities, DoD distribution centers, and U.S. military installations. The network Crowley has built for this business, which includes many transportation partners, offers resiliency and economies of scale for commercial customers and other government entities.
