About Boating Safety (ABS Certification)
Washington State law requires a boater safety course
in order to operate a boat in Washington State.
The law applies to operators of motorboats with
15 horsepower or greater. The U. S. Coast Guard
Auxiliary Boating classes satisfy Washington State's
mandatory education requirements for all boaters to
get their State of Washington Boater's card. Course
includes: introduction to boating; boating law; boat
safety equipment; safe boating; navigation; boating
problems; trailering, storing and protecting your boat;
hunting and fishing; water skiing; and river boating.
Class includes time for a lunch break. Ages 10 to 13
must attend with an adult.

Geocaching for Beginners
Geocaching is a family friendly, real-world, outdoor
treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices.
Join long time cacher 'FluteFace' as you learn how
to get started, equipment needs, types of caches and
how to log a find. At the end of the presentation, you
will head into Jennings Park to find your first cache.
Geocaching relies on internet access and a GPS or
smartphone. Although they won't be specifically
covered, you may bring your own smartphone or
GPS. All ages are invited. Youth 14 and under must
bring parents. Dress for the weather and wear shoes
for easy trail walking. Pre-registration is required.
Register at the Parks, Culture and Recreation Office
or by emailing akingsford@marysvillewa.gov. Online
registration is not available.

ADULT ACTIVITIES
CPR, First Aid & AED Certification
Through hands-on practice and demonstration,
students gain knowledge, skills and the confidence
to provide CPR to adults, children and infants;
first aid and how to properly operate an Automated
External Defibrillator (AED). CPR, first aid and AED
certification through the American Safety and Health
Institute and valid for two years.
