DECEMBER 2020 14 14 DECEMBER 2020 C O N C O U R S C O R N E R Dennis Rood Below you will find the first of two follow-up articles about the chemicals, tools, and sources Darryl used to restore of his 356C over the past several years. Not much is going on in the concours world, but there are car shows going on down here in AZ. I went to one last weekend on Saturday with about 100 cars. Everyone was very good about wearing masks and keeping social distance. The show lasted about two hours. I don't know why we can't do this in Washington. It was outside with people walking around looking at the cars and perhaps stopping to talk to a friend or two. I have been able to participate in two tours here in Arizon and one in October in WA with our club. We sign the waivers online, get the safety take online, meet at the site, no pre-meeting, and stay in our cars or social distance with masks in small groups. In Arizona you are on your own for lunch when you arrive at the destination. For the Cascades/Sun Mountain Lodge/Winthrop tour we packed a lunch and ate at picnic tables at a State park. When we reached the hotel we checked in and had meals by ourselves. The auto auctions are starting up again in-person. Barrett Jackson had one in Scottsdale in October and are planning for a January show at West World in Scottsdale from January 16-24th. I don't know how they are going to do it with protections. I know that some organizations here take your temperature with a touchless sensor before you can enter. Russo and Steele have an auction planned for January 20-24th. Goodings has no auctions planned for 2021. Bonham's has no auctions in Scottsdale in January, but will have five auctions in different locations from March thru December. Worldwide Auctions will have a one-day auction in Scottsdale on January 21, 2021. So, auction week in AZ in January 2021 is going to be much quieter with fewer auctions than previous years. Hopefully, we will find a vaccine or treatment for Covid-19 soon that will allow us to get back to our normal lives and activities. The most recent news on this front is quite encouraging, but it won't come too soon for me. I have submitted dates for the upcoming planning meeting for 2021. We will go ahead with those activities once we get the ok from PCA national. We will let you know if you can register or if it will be canceled. Thanks again Darryl for these interesting articles on your extensive restoration of the 356C. With that, take it away Darryl...
