I hope you are having a good winter so far. This month, we have another article from Darryl Deppe about the restoration of his 914's underside, suspension, and engine. As you have seen in his previous article and from his series on his total restoration of his 356 the previous year, Darryl does most of the work himself and is very resourceful and innovative on the processes, tools, and solutions he uses. My hope in featuring articles from Darryl is that some of you will be inspired to do some work on your car you may not have considered before because you didn't think you could do it. Some things that require a lift or specialized tools, you may not, but many of the cleaning, tightening, replacing, and painting jobs you can do yourself. Story and Photographs by Darryl Deppe Making the Old 914 Look Like New Underneath M y last article left off with the disassembling of the rear suspension and diving into stripping the undercoating and paint off the rear underside of my 914 since all the parts for reassembly had arrived.
