31 Spiel – May 2022 Larry Dong The PNWR returned to its traditional April mini concours at the XXX Drive In, the concours was accompanied by the other tradition of gray skies and rain. The weather did not dampen the turnout. There was a nice group of varied Porsches, representing most models and eras; each car braved the wet roads and removed that pristine winter storage shine. Thankfully, it stopped raining midday, and we could enjoy the show. I took note of a fine red 944 and a 911 SC. There are so many great cars in our region. Mark Bitter Hmm… an opportunity to have a burger, malt, and see a few Porsches at a casual Show and Shine? Perhaps see a few friends that I have not seen in a while? Count me in! The prior days' weather forecast gave a few people second thoughts on coming to the show. About 50 people and 40 cars attended the event. The weather held up and allowed a chance to catch up with and meet some new friends. There was a nice variety of Porsches to view. A gorgeous 912 Coupe in Bahama Yellow won the People's Choice award. Among the many standouts, a 930 Turbo Slantnose in black, a white 914, and a '70s light blue 911 Targa took the Judges honor awards in first, second, and third places, respectively. It was absolutely wonderful to see people with open smiles again. John Mueller A hearty "thank you" to all who attended the XXX Shown and Shine on a rainy and cold, 40-degree Sunday. It was a time long overdue and a time well spent. As we drove to the XXX, the rain stopped, and as we continued driving, the rain restarted, when we arrived, the rain was very light. It stopped at about 11 a.m., and the sun tried to peek out. All in all, it was a very good day to see so many smiling, familiar faces that we have not seen for the past two years. Here are two attendees and John's observations of the event: To see pictures of the event from Brent Jones go to photos.app.goo.gl/ qiyNNGHPSu6mfS9HA. Finally, Shirley Risinger sent a very nice thank you note: "Dear PNWR friends, our family thanks you for your sympathy and care during our time of sorrow. We truly appreciated the beautiful basket full of flowers and also the article on Paul in Spiel." We look forward to seeing you at the June 18 Judged Concours at Akers and other events this summer.
