JULY 2015
50
S5 was composed of seven drivers in GT3s and one in a 2014
Turbo. The top three drivers were within a 0.35 second, spread
in three different GT3 generations, with Geoff Newman, driving
Ward Carter's 2007 GT3 (997), just ahead of Paul Hagger in his
2004 GT3 (996) and Leeds Gulick in his 2015 GT3 (991). It was
interesting to note that the three fastest Porsche times were in the
stock S5 class rather than in a class allowing more modifications
or sticky tires. Currently there are no Modified class cars running,
though I personally hope to change that, if our 3.8 liter Boxster
ever makes it out of the shop! As a mediocre driver, I need a fast
car on sticky tires to be competitive, and there aren't any big sticky
tires available for the new GT3 as of yet.
