Besides learning about the business, history, culture and processes of the company, each trainee spends half a day as a volunteer. In 2016, many opted for packing food at the Northwest Harvest food bank distribution center in Spokane, part of a statewide hunger-relief network. Food Banks In 2016, Northwest FCS donated more than $200,000 and hundreds of hours of time to help food banks build, organize and serve. Staff throughout the Northwest have gleaned fields, sorted produce and packed food boxes for their local food banks. Northwest FCS employees have also collected items for food drives and raised money to fight hunger. We won't quit until the battle against hunger is won. Community Giving Food bank operators, health advocates, caregivers, teachers and volunteers work to enrich the lives of people in rural communities across our region. Northwest FCS supports their efforts by donating time, funds and resources to the activities they undertake to improve access to food, healthcare, social services, education, the arts and more.
