new to the board Welcome Derek Schafer and Thank You Kevin Riel New Payment Address Effective June 2017 The payment remittance address on your monthly account statement changed on June 1. Be sure your payments are sent to: Derek Schafer of Ritzville, Washington, was recently elected to the Northwest FCS Board of Directors to represent Region 2 for a five-year term. He succeeds Kevin Riel, who had served on the board since 2007. Derek Schafer Derek is a full-time farmer on his family's fifth-generation grain farm and president of the Family Plow, Inc. and Homestead Family Grain Co.; vice president of Schafer Ranch Ltd. and More Prophet Seeding, Ltd.; and treasurer of Fields & Furrows, Inc. In the 14 years he has been a Northwest FCS customer, he has served as a local advisor and was a member of the Northwest FCS Nominating Committee in 2013. Derek is also a board member of Pacific Northwest Direct Seed Association; treasurer of the Adams County Association of Wheat Growers and lifetime member of the Washington Association of Wheat Growers; and president of the Lind Ritzville FFA Alumni Council. His term expires in 2022. Kevin Riel Thanks to former director Kevin Riel of Yakima, Washington, for his 10 years of service on the Northwest FCS Board of Directors. A Farm Credit customer since 1998, Kevin is owner of Double 'R' Hop Ranches, raising hops, apples and grapes. During Kevin's tenure, he served in several committee and board leadership roles and was elected to represent Northwest FCS on the CoBank Board of Directors in 2014.
