Participants must carry clean tennis shoes into the gym. Families are encouraged to attend and children eight and under must be accompanied by an adult. Basketballs will be provided. Gym will be supervised by Parks & Recreation staff . Moscow Elks Annual Hoop Shoot The Moscow Elks Hoop Shoot will be held on Saturday, January 13th. It is open to all that wish to participate that reside in Latah and Whitman counties. This includes all public, private, and home school children between the ages of 8-13. Birth certifi cates will be necessary for registration. The participants must be 8 years old and no older than 13 as of April 1, 2018. Gym shoes are required. There will be seperate age groups girls and boys, 8-9, 10-11, and 12-13 year olds. Distances will vary depending on age group. Further information on the elks hoop shoot can be found on line at elkshoopshoot.org. The event will be held at the Hamilton Recreation Center in Moscow, Idaho. Registration will be held between 8:30am and 9:00am. The Hoop Shoot will begin at 9:15am. Skyhawks Sports: Soccer Touch SoccerTouch is a program to develop soccer skills in kids who are ready to and eager to embrace the sport. Emphasis is placed on individual soccer skills, ball control and concept of the game. The weekly class consists of fun, skill building drills, a soccer concept of the day and concludes with a controlled small-sided scrimmage. The goals of the program are to accelerate soccer development, prepare kids for league play, create general fi tness and to teach that sports are joyful and fun. Location: Sunnyside Elem Gym Min 10/Max 25 6-12 yrs Th .............Jan 18-Feb 22 .............. 6:30-7:30pm Resident: $74/N-Resident: $76 Start Smart Sports Development Program Start Smart is an instructional program that prepares children for the world of organized sports without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Parents work one- on-one with their children in a supportive environment to learn all of the basic skills such as throwing, catching, kicking, and batting. Specialized Start Smart equipment (Koosh Ball products) will be provided. Please wear clothing and shoes appropriate for exercise. This is an activity for the beginner child with little or no sports experience. Program will run 5 weeks. Location: Sunnyside Elem Gym Min 4/Max 16 3-5 yrs, parent/guardian participation required Tu .............Feb 6-Mar 6 ................. 6:30-7:15pm Resident: $25/N-Resident: $27 Register for winter sports through Friday, January 5, 2018. Registrations will be accepted on a space-available basis after the deadline, and the deadline does not guarantee there will still be openings. Requests for placement with a specific coach or particular friend must be made in writing at time of registration and will be considered, but cannot be guaranteed. Participants in team sports must wear a blue or white shirt for games. A blue/white reversible youth sport shirt may be purchased for $20 at the Parks & Recreation office at 240 SE Dexter St. Boys & Girls Youth Basketball 2018 2nd-5th grade girls and boys will learn the skills of dribbling, shooting, lay-ins, off ensive and defensive skills plus play organized games. Players will learn the rules of the game, while working on team play, and positive sportsmanship. Girls' teams will practice MW and boys' teams practice TuTh. The fi rst week of practice starts with skills analysis to equally balance the teams. Games are Saturday mornings at Sunnyside Elementary or Lincoln Middle School gym.
