Mercer Island locations only. First time riders will be contacted to reserve a pick-up time. Fee is $1 one way or $2 round trip per person. Reservations for transportation are required by 4pm on day before pick-up for Tue, Wed or Thu transportation. Volunteer drivers needed! Call 206-275-7841. Door-to-door Pick-up: Rides available to most* Senior Adult activities sponsored by Mercer Island Parks & Recreation on Tuesdays and Thursdays from your home to program location and return home. *Call 206-275-7841 to verify availability. Grocery Shopping: Grocery shopping is every Wednesday unless otherwise indicated. One errand and a grocery store of your choice on the Island. Meals on Wheels A selection of frozen meals, including Kosher and low-sodium available to homebound persons 60 years or older. The meals are planned by registered dieticians and delivered by Mercer Island volunteers on Wednesdays. Suggested donation is $5 per meal. For more information call 206-275-7841. Senior Adult Social Program A fun, caring and active program designed to provide a safe place for your loved ones to socialize with friendly, sensitive staff and volunteers while providing respite for caregivers. Adults who have physical, memory, hearing or vision limitations enjoy a number of activities to help maintain or improve mental and physical health and socialization. Snack and lunch included. Drop by the Mercer Island Community & Event Center to pick up your informational packet. You will be asked for your name and number and the hygienist will call you to answer questions and schedule your appointment. Day/Date: 3rd Tue (Ongoing) Time: 9am - 5pm Fee: Varies depending on services Hygienist: Deb Fredrikson, RDH Location: Mercer Island Community & Event Center Caregivers Support Caregivers are invited to share concerns, receive support and increase their knowledge about resources with their peers. Please contact facilitator before attending your first meeting. Day/Date: 1st Thu (Ongoing) Time: 2:30pm - 4pm Fee: Suggested Donation $5 Facilitator: Betsy Zuber, MS, LMHC, GMHS 206-275-7752 Location: Mercer Island Community & Event Center Lifelong Recreation programs focus on providing a variety of meaningful activities that support an active lifestyle through education, outings & adventures, physical activity, health & wellness, and social connection. Although Lifelong Recreation programs are tailored for adults 65 years young and up, adults of any age are welcome to register if space is available.
