MAY 2018 6 XXX A break in the weather arrived just in time for our XXX Show 'N Shine, held on Sunday April 22nd. The cars really came out with the sunshine and we had excellent representation of all the Porsche model cars. I arrived early at around 8:15 am. After our regular Sunday morning breakfast with my car buddies I found Adrian Johnson and the 928 contingent had shown up in force. I accused Adrian of camping out all night to stake out the best spots for these cars. Steve Terrien brought his 550 Spyder and allowed us all to hear what beautiful sounds a Fuhrmann four cam can make. We had some fantastic cars in every model. I was impressed with the number of 356s that showed up, as well as the early 911s. Ted Anthony had his new 991.2 GT3 on display, which speaks volumes about the improvements over the 991.1 car. I can't wait to drive it. All told, we had over 100 cars and at least three times that number of car enthusiasts. It was a great start to all the activities coming up through the summer for our club. Volunteers needed We are creating a new committee position: Social media chair. This position will manage all of the communications across all of the multimedia channels including Facebook, Instagram, text notifications, YouTube, and possibly even Twitter. This person will develop, engage, and promote club activities, as well as monitor content to insure the club is represented with the utmost integrity. The club is also looking for an Advertising chair who will be the liaison with our vendors and the Spiel. You will have a very able assistant, Ellen Thayer, who will stay on as part of the team. The continued success of our club has raised our membership to a point that it is difficult to get into many of our events. Driver Skills, HPDE, and Tours continually generate waitlists. We can run multiple tours on the same day. However, to make that happen we need your help. For Driver Skills and HPDE we have decided to give preferences to our club members, as track days are limited. We have the same volunteers organizing and giving of their time to run events. While we are grateful for all they do for the club, there is only so much we can ask of them. Please look at the upcoming events that interest you and volunteer! Each of us make our club special, successful, and lots of fun. Feel free to contact me at: president@pnwr.org FROM THE PRESIDENT Ed Jenkins Photography by Ed Jenkins 6 MAY 2018
