NOVEMBER 2020 6 Doug Andreassen Poster Art provided by Doug Andreassen 6 NOVEMBER 2020 FROM THE PRESIDENT A Month for Thankfulness This month I take a break from my infatuation with vintage Porsche advertising. Every time one of those ads appear in my message, I receive exciting stories from members on their best memories of an era gone by and even some tattoo images! These last two months have allow us to reflect on the year and say thank you to those around us for their support during these stressful times. PNWR has several vital people stepping away from their roles to pursue what life has to offer. I have enjoyed each of these individuals and their contributions. Let me name a few and will add more in my December message. Our membership chair, Wendy Gulick has been a pillar of strong leadership. This team of Leeds and Wendy is impressive from all perspectives. They have been members of PNWR for 40 years! That alone deserves prominent recognition. Wendy stepped forward and filled this role for longer than we expected. Her knowledge of PCA/PNWR history has been beneficial to all of us. I cannot say enough about their efforts. This month we will also see the dynamic duo of David Cook and Dean Holbrook, who produce this magazine every month, come to an end. I have the privilege of working closely with these two on every issue of Spiel. The day that David raised his hand and said yes, I will be the editor of Spiel was momentous. Their working relationship has been something to behold. To look back and hear them say they have never had a disagreement on the content of Spiel is impressive. Not only will I say thank you to them, but all of us at PNWR will also miss their talents at the helm of our award-winning magazine. Look for the new team to be in place for the January issue. We also lose the multi-talented Ginger McMillen this month, as well. Ginger has served as our secretary these last two years. I have always appreciated her attention to detail in recording our minutes, and most of all, her smile makes you feel like the world will be ok. Ginger and Hal have been a real blessing to PNWR. Their particip- ation in our events bring that same sense of energy and thoughtfulness. Our advertising chair, Ellen Thayer, has fulfilled her role beautifully month in and month out with diligence and passion, keeping our advertisers coming back to her every month. We have always enjoyed that enthusiasm no matter what task she took on. The advertising element is an essential part of our com- munity. For PNWR to have been blessed with her talents puts a smile on all our faces. We are looking for replacements for each of these positions. As you look at what you can contribute to your car community, PLEASE consider helping us out with any of these positions. You can email me at president@pnwr.org for a discussion on any of these positions. The COVID-19 virus has changed every aspect of our lives. I am sad to say that PNWR has also been affected in its ability to offer programs, including our annual banquet. This is where we recognize members with a variety of awards. It has been the highlight of PNWR for many years. However, this year, the virus's implications have also forced us to put these awards aside for 2020. Let's all look forward to 2021 when we can revisit this recognition. My last bit of information for you is our elections. In this issue you will find a list of candidates for 2021. I hope you take some time to review the names and place your vote for those to lead PNWR into 2021. These are all volunteers. The efforts they put into our Porsche community to ensure you have fun at the events is priceless. No one knows what 2021 will bring in terms of social gatherings. Let us all do our best to ensure safety for everyone around you. Do it because it is about the community. Be calm, be safe, and, most of all, be KIND.
