20 Spiel – September 2021 TOUR TIME GREGG HALVERSON Tours Committee Chair tours@pnwr.org Greg loves Porsche because he feels it's a quality product, driven by meticulous engineering and attention to detail. In addition, he feels that the "fun factor" is always there each time he gets behind the wheel. Besides loving his Porsches, Greg enjoys snow skiing in the winter and has played "at" golf for countless years! End of the "Regular Season" W ell, here we are: already heading into fall/winter and at the end of what I'm calling the "regular season" to quote a sports phrase. There were two great tours in August: the Diablo Lake Tour and the Women's Only Tour. The Women's Tour was sold out at 30 cars until the very end with a couple late cancellations, and the Diablo Dam Tour was sold out at 40 cars with a sizable wait list. More about that later. The good news is that both tours experienced beautiful weather which made them even more enjoyable with top-down driving for those who had the Cabs/Boxsters! There is an article coming from some first timers for both of these tours, and they are excellent reading. Speaking of excellent reading, we have been very fortunate to have some really nice tour articles over the entire tour season. People volunteer or sort of get volunteered to write these articles, and it is really interesting to read what they write about—everything from the tour itself, to their past experiences leading up to their first Porsche and first PNWR tour, to reflections on life itself. I hope you have taken the time to read all of them. One thing has been constant in all of the articles: first time tour attendees are really excited about how the tours were conducted and how much fun they had, both because of the driving and because of the club members they met. They closed their articles with statements like, "we'll definitely be attending more tours" or "can't wait for the next tour" which, for me as the tour chair, is gratifying to read. As I write this, the rescheduled Mt. Baker/Artist Point Tour is just coming up. Trouble is, the forecast isn't great at all, so next month I'll report on how it all turned out. September weather is always unpredictable after Labor Day weekend, and that seems to be holding true again this year. I helped out Dennis Rood (along with several others) at the All-Porsche Grand Display, and after all the great weather we had over the summer, it chose to rain on Dennis Rood's "parade" for about the first three hours. I'm sure he will talk about Photographs by Larry Nelson
