6 Spiel – September 2021 DOUG ANDREASSEN President • (206) 300-3701 president@pnwr.org FROM THE PRESIDENT Doug appreciates the commitment that Porsche makes to their motorsport success and how that technology transfers to the vehicles we all love. Outside of that passion, he enjoys soccer, hiking, and spending time outdoors in the company of others. 6 Spiel – September 2021 This event has drawn the attention of the car community as we anticipate a sell-out for this legendary driver. Follow us on Instagram @pca_pnwr. Text "PNWR" to 55678 for all club info on events, news & exclusives. Opt in now! Hurley Haywood and Sim Racing! P NWR has been hard at work with the presentation of two premier events for your enjoyment. Let's start with Hurley Haywood; if you have not registered for this event, do so today. This event has drawn the attention of the car community as we anticipate a sell-out for this legendary driver. Look for the advertisement on page 35 where you will find out how to register. We cannot thank John Mueller and Jay Gillotti enough for their countless hours of organizing for this Tech Session on October 24th, starting at 9 a.m. and going until 1 p.m. The event will be held at Chris' German Car Facility in Redmond. We would be remiss if we did not thank Chris Powell for his outstanding support of PNWR in allowing us to gather at his facility once again. Our second announcement is the launch of the PCA Sim Racing program. We have been working on the details to introduce PCA Sim Racing for several years. We have found a chairperson in Ed Eijsenring who has taken on this challenge with enthusiasm. Recently Dan Pilling sat down with Ed to have him describe his venture into Sim Racing. As we head into our winter season, there is not a better time to launch yourself into this exciting world. The bonus of this program is that everyone in your family can participate. Ed has set up a "Question and Answer" session on October 5th at 7 p.m. Here you will get an overview of the program. We have also set up a section on our website where you will find further information. As Ed describes it: "Sim Racing is sensational, educational, and rewarding." Thank you to Barb Coplen for her efforts in getting our website set up as well. Finally, our cover story is with Miller Adams. Many of you have been on tours with him, along with numerous other PNWR activities. However, he shares with us the story of his remarkable life and love for Porsche. The more we talked with Miller, the more we began to understand the man behind the wheel. His 996 has just passed the 200,000- mile marker. When we asked him what his favorite car would be, he stated that he has it already! We loved that answer enough to write this feature story. Thank you goes to Karl Nokes for the photographs and Dan Pilling for the writing. As we close this issue, your Spiel team is working hard on our fall/ winter issues. The team consists of Sydney Tanner, Dan Pilling, Kevin Nouwens, Martin Wild, and Dan O'Connell. Thank you also goes out to our designer, Patricia Woods. If you have that unique story of your Porsche experience, we would love to hear about it. I look forward to seeing you down the road.
