I n the fall issue of Master Builder magazine, we discussed how using both quantitative and qualitative data, determining key customer demographics, and developing a content strategy are key pillars of building your social media presence and tracking its success. This time we'll be getting a little more hands-on, discussing tools and tactics for creating compelling visual content for your social media channels. Photography and Videography Equipment: Whether it's a nice camera or GoPro or the latest smartphone (iPhone X, Google Pixel 2, Samsung Galaxy 10, or newer are recommended), choose a device that suits your budget, needs, and content strategy. Need a social media strategy? Find members specializing in marketing at Framing: When shooting a photo, proper composition is essential for directing the viewer's attention. The easiest way to frame your subject or focal point is by following the rule of thirds, which calls for placing your subject to the left or right third of the image, leaving the other two thirds open. Framing your subject this way improves the balance of the image and draws the eye. Creative Tools Adobe Lightroom: A great option for advanced photo editing, Lightroom's presets are what makes it shine. Presets are custom filters that you can apply to your photos for an immediate impact, and there are both free and paid options available, plus the ability to create your own. Lightroom even has a mobile version, allowing you to easily edit photos on your phone. You can purchase Lightroom separately or as part of the Adobe Creative Cloud. Canva: For an affordable alternative to Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva is a fantastic option. The platform offers both a free and pro version ($120 annually) and can be used on both desktop and mobile devices. The pro version allows you to load your brand colors, logos, and fonts so they're easily accessible when you're creating branded content. The creative possibilities are endless. Interested in gaining more in-depth knowledge of social media? In 2022, we will be rolling out new trainings all about strategy, content creation, and emerging platforms, to name just a few. Stay tuned in the coming months for additional information!
