The (draft) agenda will cover: • Instructor candidate process • COVID-19 procedures (TBD) • 2022 safety requirement updates • Run group and event schedule formats for 2022 • Requirements to remain in "active" instructor status • PCA DE Day goals: entertainment, safety, driver development, and coaching/learning styles Instructor/Advanced Driver event: We are in contact with IMSA, The Heart of Racing, and Aston Martin driver, Alex Riberas, who set the street-legal lap record of 1:20:58 at Pacific Raceways in June 2019 driving a Porsche 991.2 GT2 RS. Alex has agreed to join us for a virtual conversation where he will walk us through "the perfect lap" at Pacific! We are working on a date now targeting late February/March. facebook.com/HeartOfRacing/videos/ 1109311366168417 Driver Skills: Kevin Grealish – Report Submitted The schedule has been set for 2022. Goodie Store: Bobbie Kalben – Report Submitted We had $110 is sales in December and are working on ideas for expanding and optimizing the items available at the PCA web store and locally. Historian: Jay Gillotti – Report Submitted We're still planning to go forward with our event at ACM on 1/22 unless virus safety measures prevent the Museum from being open. Membership: Billy & Julie Shott – Report Submitted New Members: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 26 Transfers In: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2 Transfers Out: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . -8 Lapsed: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . -52 Total Primary: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2,485 Affiliate: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .1,336 We had a membership tent set up at the Northwest Toy Run at Pacific Raceways and arranged for a special parking area for the Porsche owners. It was a worthy effort as I spoke to several potential members who left with an application and intention to sign up. Holiday cards were sent out to all the members who signed up in the month, and they included a club sticker and window cling. We'll continue that practice with a generic card in January. We're working on a follow up email to be sent to new members thanking them again for joining our club and reminding them about the option of signing up an affiliate member. Many of our new members have not identified an additional member when completing the PCA application. Billy attended a PCA presentation on the Juniors Program, and we will work on incorporating more activities for our junior members. Safety: Steve Downing – Report Submitted There's nothing to report this month. Sim Racing: Ed Eijsenring – Report Submitted Speed Secrets | Ross Bentley: We closed the year in style with an outstanding race car setup "chalk-talk" hosted by PNW-based, Speed Secrets' Ross Bentley (former Indy race driver and successful driver coach). Ross covered the most effective thought process for optimizing car setup, tools/ techniques to use, prioritization, and its impact on our driving style. The Winter Zone Group Challenge Qualifier Series continued with races running through January. As PNWR we're part of the WWZ zone group (zones 6-9, 11, 14) and the top 32 drivers will advance to represent WWZ in the nationwide 2022 Zone Group Challenge Championship. PNWR Sim Racing initiative Sim Meetup Series | Endurance Team Racing: On Dec. 7 we hosted the session on endurance team racing. We had 10 people participating in engaged conversations. We had Chris Paiz leading the topic, and we all shared relevant experiences and insights and got folks (even more) excited about this fascinating topic. Fun fact: our own PNWR member Mark Doran raced Chris Paiz on Dec. 5 at the WRL 2022 Championship finale, an 8-hour endurance race at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX. For Porsche, endurance racing has been an instrumental part of a long success story. It was great to see so much enthusiasm from sim racers and non-sim racers. Following this meeting, two new teams were created for the 2022 PCA Endurance Racing series. We'd like to follow them and share their experiences in a future Spiel article. Social: Jeff and Shari Waibel – Report Submitted We're putting the finishing touches on a hopeful social calendar for 1H '22 and have made a request to get the first few dates into Spiel. Social Media: Martin Wild & Jeff Waibel – Report Submitted It's been fun swapping the Facebook cover photo several times with different holiday and NYE themes. We'll try to do this more often in '22 to keep content fresh. We had a surprising number of qualified new requests during December. Lots of members are joining, and we are always looking for fresh content, different cover photos, etc. Spiel Team – Report Submitted Thanks to everyone involved in Spiel last year. There are many contributors that make it happen. There have been a few more hurdles over the last few issues to ensure the editions make it out on time in the face of paper supply chain issues. Technical Education: John Mueller – Report Submitted I sent Hurley a Christmas gift from the PNWR containing five Spiels, a DVD of his TechEd, and several of the posters from the event. They arrived on 12/24/21, and Hurley was very appreciative. TechEd events are on hold while we're waiting for the public's comfort level with indoor events to become more positive. Tentative dates are: • January 22 TechEd 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. no plans • February 26 TechEd 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on hold • March 26 TechEd 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on hold • April 23 TechEd 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on hold • October 1 or 29 TechEd 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. "Once in a Lifetime" Tours: Greg Halverson – Report Submitted The Dec. 11 Snoqualmie Wanderland tour sold out in record time with a wait list. We ran in 5 groups instead of 6 because of late cancellations due to weather and no time to add people off the wait list. The Jan. 22 Winter Waters tour sold out in two days with a long wait list as well. We are planning to run 6 groups in two "cells" again. That worked well in December. Gathering outdoors for the driver's meetings should hopefully allow us to continue face-to-face briefings. Lunch will continue to be "on your own" and not part of the official tour due to COVID-19 concerns. People can choose to eat in small groups or skip the lunch part; although, that is not the preferred way to end a tour. Website: Barb Coplen – Report Submitted I'm adding the events from the planning session to the web calendar. We have the registration open dates for DE posts separately as notifications, so they stand out more and will do the same for tours. I still have Concours, Tours, Tech Ed, and miscellaneous to post. New Business • None Old Business • None Meeting adjourned by the Vice President: 8:12 p.m. Our next board meeting will be on March 7, 2022. Reports submitted by chairs, board members, and recorded by Jeff Jones, PNWR Secretary.
