With new district boundaries having been drawn in the redistricting process and a slew of retirements, change is on the way. The Affordable Housing Council (AHC) is uniquely positioned to play a part in that change. Forty-five percent of all state legislators represent districts in either King or Snohomish County. In 2022, 44 state representatives and 15 state senators from the 22 districts the AHC covers are up for election. The 2022 Election Will Shape the State Legislature Also on the ballot will be the King and Snohomish County prosecutors. These positions advise their respective county councils and executives on matters relevant to MBAKS members and are an important consideration for the AHC. The AHC comprises 21 MBAKS members and is ultimately responsible for voting on all funding decisions. AHC directors work with MBAKS staff to vet and interview candidates for local and state elected offices. Pursuant to its bylaws, the AHC only endorses and provides financial support for candidates who will be strong advocates on important housing issues.
