D o you own an electric buffer for detailing your Porsche? Have you ever washed your buffers foam pads? Do you know how to wash your foam pads? Were you aware that they could be washed? Were you aware that they need to be washed? Were you aware that there is a correct way to wash them? At a Griot's Garage TechEd, Guy Devivo spoke about the correct way to wash foam pads. Washing Electric Buffer Foam Pads 46 Spiel – December 2022 Foam Pad Dos and Don'ts Always wash foam pads immediately after use to save time, money, and frustration. You will also get better polishing and waxing results. Before washing pads, you need to know if your polish and wax are water-based, oil-based, or water- and oil-based. All of Griot's Garage waxes and polishes are water-based. Washing Foam Pads If your polish and wax are water-based: 1. Immediately after use, soak pads in warm water for 15 minutes. 2. Work water into foam pads with your fingers. 3. Squeeze out dirty water and discard water. 4. Rinse foam pad with warm water. 5. Squeeze out water and discard water. 6. Repeat steps 1 to 5 until foam pads are clean. 7. Air dry. If you did not wash foam pads immediately after using a water- based wax or polish: 1. Soak pads in one gallon of warm water for at least one hour. 2. Follow the 7 steps above for cleaning water-based polish and wax from pads. If you do not know if your polish or wax are water-based, oil-based, or water- and oil-based: 1. Immediately after use, mix one ounce of Griot's Garage Microfiber & Foam Pad Cleaner with 64 ounces of water. 2. Pour mixture into a spray bottle. 3. Spray foam pad liberally. 4. Work mixture into foam pad with your fingers. 5. Squeeze out dirty mixture and discard mixture. 6. Rinse foam pad with warm water. 7. Squeeze out water and discard water. 8. Repeat steps 3 to 7 until foam pads are clean. 9. Air dry. If you did not wash foam pads immediately after using an oil-based or water- and oil-based wax or polish. 1. Mix one ounce of Griot's Garage Microfiber & Foam Pad Cleaner with 64 ounces of water. 2. Soak pads in mixture for at least one hour. 3. Follow the 9 steps above for cleaning oil-based or water- and oil-based polish and wax from pads. Please keep a copy of these step- by-step instructions with your car care supplies so you can properly maintain your electric buffer foam pads.
