The group was energized and the warm personal welcome by owner Richard Griot, company President Mark Greene, store manager Jason Mathews and other team members was received with enthusiastic applause and laughter from approximately 100 members. Bill Rogers made introductions and tricked me into writing this article. I reckon I'll undo the "rookie" label quickly as possible by going along with the ploy. Once the agenda was described, all the club guests were invited into the detail shop, where nationally recognized detail artist Jason Killmer and colleague Shea Unti gave the group the lowdown on proper application of Griot's products and effective techniques. The most prevalent of challenges we all face are surface contaminants, fine scratches and swirl marks in the paint. Jason and Shea invested a significant amount of time describing the proper sequence of products, tools and techniques to eliminate and protect against these common maintenance issues. Jason also demonstrated methodology for wet sanding and polishing deeper scratches. Techniques for addressing wheel cleaning, interior care and many other aspects of car detailing were presented. After the demonstration, everyone reconvened in the cafeteria where over 25 giant pizzas and gallons of effervescent beverage were consumed, hosted by Griot's.
