Let's Get toGether Larry & SherreL NeLSoN Sherre I must admit that I was overwhelmed by the support of both the Puget Sound Mini Motoring Club of Seattle, and the Pacific NW Region of the Porsche Club of America. I would say that this event turned out much larger than I could ever have dreamed. I know a lot of you don't know the whole story so I'll try to fill you in on the behind-thescenes that took place leading up to this event on Saturday, December 4th. Food drive For Northwest harvest It all started with a little article that was in the November Spiel, noting that it was almost time for the King 5 and Northwest Harvest annual food drive. This would be the tenth year for this event and they had a huge goal of ten million meals in 10 years. In my Valued advertiser since 1990 10 January 2011 article I made mention of the Seattle Mini Club being highlighted in a Seattle Times article last year on how they got together as a car club to help their community. As a side note I said something like "Hey we are one of the Puget Sound's largest car clubs, and I was sure that we could do better". Boy, did that get some attention! Mainly from Greg Perzell of the Mini Cooper Club, but I also need to note that Greg is a Porsche owner and a member of our club, too. Well, it didn't take long to get Greg's attention! He sent me an email back on November 7th, taking my article as a challenge between the two car clubs. He also sent me a link to the PS Mini website where they had a forum going about the event and the challenge, so I guess it was "Game On". Know this was all in good spirits, as Greg is one of the many avid track guys and loves the competition with the Porsche club. "I think he's been passed by one too-many Porsches in his Mini" Just kidding!!! We had many emails and phone calls to see how we could get this to work for both
