8 Marysville Parks, Culture & Recreation • Spring/Summer 2020 Little Coders Little Coders camp is an opportunity for children to develop their computational thinking skills, build their first programs, and have fun with new friends! Curriculum is designed for early readers and takes into account cognitive abilities as well as the attention span typical for ages 5-7. Students are introduced to basic coding concepts, from playing coding board games like Robot Turtles to programming their first games or animated stories. Age-appropriate online tools are used. After the camp, students will be able to share their projects and continue programming at home with their Coding with Kids Scratch account. Campers learn the core concepts of computer programming that will lay foundations for future coding success. A variety of projects, such as games, mazes, and animated stories, will allow campers to use their creativity while learning coding concepts. This curriculum and smaller class size provide personalized instruction that helps students progress at their own pace while being appropriately challenged. Students will have access to a Scratch account to continue their coding journey at home. Age: 7-11 .................................................................... Cost: $259 Course #: 9695 M-F Aug 3-7 9:00 AM-12:00 PM Minecraft Modding 1 Building Minecraft mods is a great way to learn programming, harness creativity, and enhance problem-solving skills while making your favorite game even better. Campers will have their own Minecraft server where they can customize the game with their own world maps and features. Students will be coding mods to create new items, environments, game modes, and more! Using a simple drag-and-drop coding environment, campers will accomplish exciting results! A Minecraft PC Account is needed (students must bring their own Minecraft for PC login to the camp. XBox or iOS minecraft accounts do not work for this camp.) *Camp tuition includes a 3-week subscription (week of camp + 2) to a premium Minecraft modding development environment with access to a private server. You may choose to extend the subscription by signing up on a monthly basis afterwards. Age: 8-12 .................................................................... Learn skills that translate to many other areas of technology from game development to computer graphics and film. Design your own objects, from flying saucers to cool characters. Cost: $259 Course #: 9698 M-F Aug 3-7 1:00-4:00 PM SUMMER CAMPS Coders Camps/Game Development Coding with Kids camps are a place for coders to unleash their creativity build coding skills. Tech-savvy instructors will guide small groups of campers as they unleash their creativity to build games, interactive stories, websites, programmable circuits and more.
