N ature is resilient. Living in the Pacific Northwest, we see this firsthand, from honeybees supporting hives through flowerless winters to forest regrowth in the wake of a volcanic eruption. Like bees building a beehive, Built Green members share a common purpose: building resilient communities that allow us to prosper while protecting our natural environment. The Built Green Conference has always been a place for our community to gather and embrace collective values. In these challenging times, it is important to recognize the strength of our community and celebrate our collective experience, knowledge, and accomplishments. While the current situation requires physical distance, it cannot stop us from engaging and sharing knowledge and visions for the future. In that spirit, we are excited to announce our two keynote speakers, Gil Friend, CEO of Natural Logic and founder of Critical Path Capital, and Stacey Smedley, director of sustainability at Skanska USA Building. Widely considered one of the founders of the sustainable business movement, Gil Friend advises leading companies, communities, and investors on business- driven sustainability strategies. He's written more than 100 articles, in addition to his book, "The Truth About Green Business." Gil previously served in the California Governor's Office and was Palo Alto's first chief sustainability officer. Our second keynote, Stacy Smedley, has long embraced community engagement in the pursuit of sustainable design, as BY SONJA O'CLAIRE BUILT GREEN PROGRAM MANAGER MBAKS For speaker announcements, schedule details, and all the latest conference updates, visit builtgreenconference.net PREVIEWING THE 2020 BUILT GREEN CONFERENCE Our Collective Resiliency CONFERENCE 2020 well as construction methods to build resilient communities.
