In case you needed photographic evidence of Luellen's Sandy McAdams Woman of the Year Award win… "A born leader who cares deeply about helping others, Luellen Smith has a tremendous generosity of spirit and zest for leadership. She is always willing to lend a hand or, more often, take the lead when there is a project to tackle." —Eric Thomas "Luellen has so much energy and enthusiasm that it spreads to everyone around her. She is passionate about everything she does and, because of this, she delivers excellent results. She is warm and welcoming, making those around her feel comfortable and important." —Terri Kartak, 2017 Professional Women in Building Chair, AAA KARTAK Glass & Closet Inc. Luellen (back row, left) knows that a fun, productive atmosphere is key to event success. Here, she demonstrates the former with a few of her Professional Women in Building Council colleagues. Take, for example, her recruiting eff orts. In 2016 alone, Luellen took the number one recruiter spot at both our Association and statewide, as declared by the Building Industry Association of Washington. The best recruiter each year at both the local and state level is honored with the Omar Brown Award—the engraver didn't even have to change the template last year. There was a time when women in building were rare. Now, women like Luellen are leaders. Already a success story, she wants to ensure that others who want to succeed can as she did. Her aspirations last year netted her the Sandy McAdams Woman of the Year Award, the top honor for the Professional Women in Building Council, presented to the woman who best exemplifi es what it means to be a leader. In case you're keeping track, that's three signifi cant award recognitions in 2016 alone. Oh; just last month, Luellen was honored as Remodeler Council Associate Member of the Year at the REX/T-REX Awards. Number four. And that's just a snapshot. Luellen transcends boundaries as a role model for anyone looking to achieve success, both personally and professionally. Her drive, vision, and an overwhelmingly positive attitude have cleared the path for countless others looking to make a positive impact in the residential homebuilding industry. Her personality is infectious. Her accomplishments are impressive. Her legacy is secure but her future not yet cemented. What will she do next? Whatever she wants. 45 SUMMER 2017 master builder
