he used to be the "go to" guy for factory correct restorations with an emphasis on authenticity and originality. Although he still does that type of work the vibe of his shop has slowly morphed into "outlaw" Porsches. He sells a 1,920 cc four cylinder engine (twin plug) that increases the output to around 135-140 horsepower (considerably more than the standard 356). This engine has found its way into a number of the cars on display. Proper date stamped Porsche wheels have given way to reproduction Rudge Wheels or the polished aluminum version of the Porsche wheel, standard mahogany wood rim steering wheels have been replaced with exotic hardwoods (koa, zebra, walnut), and a host of other detail items now fall outside the stock classification. I really liked the cars at this shop. The Porsche culture in this neck of Southern California is now starting to shift to the "resto mod" movement so prevalent in the American muscle car world. GT Werk is a small shop operated by Bob Kann, an avid vintage racer who pilots a classic Porsche Speedster. His shop consists of a single hoist and small work area. Bob offers personalized service on all 356's but Day #2 – Friday - GT Werk the mechanical assembly of an early 356A which had just undergone a comprehensive body and paint and interior restoration. The bare body shell looked beautiful sitting on a push kart outside the shop and reminded me of pictures from the old Reutter bodyworks. Auto Kennel is a sales dealership specializing in vintage Porsche and BMW. The owner of Auto Kennel is Paul Kramer, a die hard Porsche enthusiast and an accomplished race car driver. Auto Kennel reflects Paul's passion for both and is filled with interesting interpretations of Porsche Renn Sport. One great car for sale was a 930 Turbo converted to a street legal clone 934 with extended fender flares, has a particular fascination with the light 917 center lock wheels and hubs, plexiglass weight pushrod GT's.
