This February, MBAKS members and councils were honored for their excellence and dedication to the homebuilding industry at the 2019 International Builders' Show in Las Vegas. CADRE FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC RELATIONS AND PROMOTION NAHB Remodelers recognized the MBAKS Remodelers Council's annual REX/T-REX Awards with the national Council Award for Demonstrating Remodeling Excellence (CADRE) for outstanding public relations and promotion In 2018, the REX/T-REX Awards saw a 20% increase in project entries (their all-time high), and a 25% increase in attendance from previous years NAHB 2018 PWB MEMBER OF THE YEAR Luellen Smith, 2018 chair of both the MBAKS Professional Women in Building (PWB) and Membership Councils, was named the NAHB 2018 PWB Member of the Year As MBAKS PWB chair, Luellen led the council to a membership recruitment record in 2018 and significantly increased meeting and event attendance Luellen runs Rhino Wine Cellars & Cooling Systems with her husband FIRST TRADESWOMAN TO LEAD NAHB PROFESSIONAL WOMEN IN BUILDING Finally, congratulations to Darylene Dennon, president and CEO of Solid Energy Inc , for becoming the first tradeswoman to chair NAHB's Professional Women in Building Council! Currently serving as chair for the MBAKS Sales & Marketing Council, Darylene focuses on mentoring other women and bringing diverse, multigenerational perspectives in the building industry to the table NAHB YOUNG PROFESSIONAL AWARD Joseph Irons, president of Irons Brothers Construction and 2016 MBAKS board president, was honored with the NAHB Young Professional Award for Region E, recognizing his hard work, dedication, successes, and outstanding potential as a leader in the homebuilding industry Anthony Maschmedt, principal at Dwell Development, was named 2018 NAHB Best in Green "One to Watch" Young Professional of the Year Anthony serves on the executive committee of Built Green, MBAKS' green building certification program, and persistently pushes the limits of green construction—including building the first speculative Built Green 5-Star development in south Seattle and the first Emerald Star home 2018 NAHB BEST IN GREEN YOUNG PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR Congratulations to Our 2018 NAHB Award Winners!
