With a three- course meal, fancy photo wall, and unique Top Gun theme, the event flew by as a packed room of MBAKS members and guests sipped their signature Maverick cocktails. Held at the W Hotel in Bellevue, the Gala recognized several members for their significant contributions to the association and homebuilding industry. In addition to the traditional categories, MBAKS introduced a new award designed to identify and recognize GRIP participants who have established an exceptional safety program: the GRIP on Safety Excellence Award. The Gala took time to celebrate MBAKS' 2022 accomplishments: maintaining an all-time high member retention rate of 90%; establishing two new NAHB student chapters through the Emerging Professionals program; helping steward our community through Painting a Better Tomorrow, Rampathon, and partnerships with Habitat for Humanity and DESC; and innumerable other successes throughout the year. The Gala also saw 2022 President Cameron McKinnon passing the torch to 2023 President Traci Tenhulzen, who was installed alongside the rest of the new Board of Directors Executive Committee. Traci took the opportunity to recognize influential members along her journey to this role and introduce her theme for the upcoming year: "Root Connection—Together We Are Stronger."
