Behind the scenes, it often takes months, if not a full calendar year, to make this one day in May happen. Rampathon organizer and the Association's own Michell Filleau- Maas spends months ensuring every story is a happy one. "Every year, I'm so humbled by the dedication of our member and community volunteers, along with the stories of triumph our ramp recipients have to tell," she says. "My reward is seeing the infectious smiles of everyone involved. It's hard not to smile when you know someone's life has changed for the better." A ramp can provide the catalyst to do wondrous things for those who need them. What they do is up to them—but that's the point. The volunteers of Rampathon aren't the focus of this story, nor do they want to be. It's about those who can now do the things they couldn't before, and all the stories they will now be able to tell because of one special day in May.
