more members and elected o§cials from this area of our two-county region," said Mike Pattison, interim Government Affairs director. The Italian Dinner will replace the Elected O§cials Reception, previously held in Woodinville. "The Crab Feed has become a signature event for bringing together members and elected o§cials in Snohomish County and we're hoping to provide a similar experience for our members to engage with public o§cials in King County," Pattison explains. "The idea is to offer a dinner and program that draws interest from a larger number of members than our previous event in Woodinville, so that we can increase participation and the potential for networking and relationship building." Our annual Seattle Builders Council (SBC) Dinner takes place May 23 in Seattle. This year's dinner will feature an update from Seattle City Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda and a presentation from Weld Seattle. Weld is an organization offering safe housing for former prisoners and those in recovery from addiction. Weld takes a unique approach in that it utilizes unoccupied houses for those in need. According to Weld, the company has "reimagined how America defeats homelessness while greatly reducing re-incarceration." For more information on how you can engage in MBAKS advocacy work, contact Allison at 425.460.8223 or abutcher@mbaks.com The SBC dinner provides a forum for connecting with our members doing business in Seattle and discussing top-of- mind issues for our industry. Rounding out this list of general membership events planned for the first half of 2018 will be our annual Crab Feed and Elected O§cials Reception, mentioned earlier. This year's Crab Feed will take place on June 7 at the Rosehill Community Center in Mukilteo. To stay connected with MBAKS advocacy work on a more regular basis, MBAKS continues to hold monthly builders council meetings across our two counties. These meetings are open to all members and are an excellent way to learn about the issues in which the association is engaging and provide input to elected o§cials, local planning department staff, and other local leaders involved in housing who regularly attend as guest speakers. MONTHLY COUNCIL MEETINGS • THE DEVELOPER BUILDER ISSUES COUNCIL, which covers all of Snohomish County, meets at 7:30 a.m. on the first Wednesday of each month at Shawn O'Donnell's restaurant in Everett. • THE SEATTLE BUILDERS COUNCIL meets the first Thursday of every month at 7:30 a.m. at the Blue Star Café in Wallingford. • THE RESIDENTIAL BUILDERS COUNCIL, which covers all of King County except for the city of Seattle, meets on the second Thursday of the month at 7:30 a.m. at MBAKS Bellevue. This spring, we're introducing the Italian Dinner and Elected Officials Reception, featuring Italian cuisine and an opportunity to mix and mingle with elected officials from King County. 49 SPRING 2018 master builder
