Lets Get toGether Larry & SherreL NeLSoN Sherre February 20 was a beautiful day. It was clear and sunny, and there wasnt a cloud in the sky. It has been a long while since weve had an outdoor social event, and I was really hoping the weather would hold out for us for our social Bull Session at the XXX Root Beer Drive-In in Issaquah. We have had lots of social events at the XXX Drive-In, and they have always taken good care of us. Jose Junior, the manager at the XXX Drive-In had called several days before our scheduled event, and told me that they had an error on their calendar. Another car club was scheduled to have an event there the same day as us! It had been marked on the drive-ins calendar for another day, but the Swedish Car Club was having their 5th Annual Swedish Car Cruise-in at the XXX Drive-In on the same day, February 20, at 10 a.m., just a few hours before our event. For both clubs it was too late to change the date. Our February Spiel was already out, our website calendar posting had been advertising this for months, and I think at this point Diane had already sent out the email blast reminding folks about the event. There was cer- tainly nothing we could do to change our date. I believe the Swedish Car Club was in a similar situation, with the event posted on their webpage, and flyers printed and mailed out. Oh well, whats a few more car enthusiasts at a car show? Were all out for the same thing to look at great cars and socialize with our friends. It may get a little crowded inside if it rains, but thats OK, well be in good company. Junior had told me the Swedish Cars would park in the upper lot, and we could have the lower parking lot. Great, I thought, we would be closer to the food, the bathrooms, and shelter if it did rain. Larry and I showed up shortly after 11 a.m., wanting to get there a few minutes early to get a prime parking spot, and check in with Junior. We pulled into the parking lot and immediately saw the place was packed! Gulp!! It was clear that a lot more people than just the Porsche Club and the Swedish Car Club thought it was a good day for a drive and a drop-in at the XXX. The upper lot was full of Volvos and Saabs, and even a 2009 Spyker C8 Laviotette that Park Place Motors had on display. The lower lot was ours, but it was filling up with the general public and spectator cars. Club Event Club Event 14 April 2011
