As 11:30 drew closer we were relieved to see many of the spectator cars exiting the lot just as the Porsches started rolling in. We did
our best to direct incoming traffic to the appropriate parking area;
Volvos and Saabs up above, Porsches in front in the lower lot, and the
general public on the side and in the back. I may have confused some
people with my pointing and waving, trying to direct folks to the
appointed parking areas, but for the most part, I think they got the
message.
The Saab and Volvo drivers who missed the upper lot and ended
up in Porsche-land were very understanding and happy to move
when I explained the parking situation. I did see some Porsche
drivers with bewildered looks on their faces as they were circling the
upper parking lot (our customary parking area for these events) in a
sea of Swedish cars. They appeared relieved when they realized their
friends and familiar crested cars were all parked down below. I also
noticed a fair amount of co-mingling within the two groups. After all,
werent we all here for the same reason, to enjoy a lovely winter day,
admire some beautiful cars, and visit with some nice people!
I hope that those of you who made it out to the social bull session
at the XXX Root Beer Drive-In enjoyed the day. We hope to
see you at the next event.
