14 14 NOVEMBER 2020 C O N C O U R S C O R N E R Dennis Rood Hi everyone and welcome to the 5th in Darryl Deppe's series about restoring of his Porsche 356. I think you will all agree he has brought this car a long way from where it started. He learned so much in the process about the products, tools, and vendors he worked with and has been willing to share with us. Darryl will go on for a total of seven installments. Part VI will be a list of the materials, products, lotions, potions, and vendors that he used throughout this restoration journey. Part VII will be a list and pictures of all the tools that he used. While much of this information is already embedded in the series, I think people will appreciate seeing a comprehensive and concise summary. I have really enjoyed working with Darryl, discussing his adventure, and visiting his amazing shop to see many of the cars he has restored. I talked with Darryl a long time recently and it is amazing how excited he still is to share what he has done, how he accomplished it, and how well things turned out. I hope any of our readers who have always wanted to own a Porsche or to restore one themselves will be inspired by these articles. In keeping with what I have also experienced in restoring a 1959A 1600 Super coupe a few years ago, Darryl says, "The process is fun and the results rewarding, but some of the real joy is the lasting relationships you establish along the way with amazingly skilled, wonderful people." Darryl doesn't think this 356 is of Concours quality, but I have to tell you after having seen it, I know it would score very high in the restoration class.
