area. Previously, he was a partner and director of acquisitions and development for Gamut360 Holdings, a developer serving King and Snohomish counties, for 10 years. With a career exclusively focused on for-sale housing, Cameron has worked in numerous jurisdictions throughout King and Snohomish counties and has experienced firsthand nearly all of the challenges housing developers face in the Puget Sound region. In both business and at MBAKS, his goal is to ensure the construction of quality homes that will benefit families for years to come. Cameron has degrees in Finance and Accounting from the University of Denver. He has served on MBAKS' Board of Directors since 2019 and has been an active participant in the Seattle Builders Council since 2013. Additionally, he previously served on the Board of the Young Leaders Group for the Urban Land Institute Northwest Council. New At-Large Members A new year means new faces. New to the Board of Directors this year are Kurt Wilson of Soundbuilt Homes, John Mirante of Pacific Ridge Homes (a D.R. Horton Company), Troy Schmeil of Callidus Development, and Vitaliy Gutsalo of EMB Inc. Rounding out the Board, they bring experience, expertise, and business acumen to MBAKS' governance. Vitaliy is excited to join the Board in 2023. As an owner of multiple businesses, Vitaliy says, "I know the power of a great team." "Any organization that has quality individuals pulling in the same direction has a great future no matter what lies ahead. I believe that MBAKS can do great things if we all align on our vision and mission for the next five to ten years. That's why I'm in full support of [Traci's] 2023 theme." When it comes to his top priority, Vitaliy seeks to "put my experience as a builder and businessowner to help MBAKS achieve new heights. Snohomish and King counties face a lot of challenges we need to overcome to ensure that we can build housing affordable to people looking to relocate to our area." Working together, there truly is nothing MBAKS can't accomplish. Meeting six times a year, the MBAKS Board of Directors is responsible for governing the association, driving its mission, and meeting strategic priorities. Led by a five-member Executive Committee that meets monthly, the Board works with the executive director to enact policies and oversee ongoing association activities. One member of record from each MBAKS member company is eligible to vote for the Executive Committee and six at-large members. Four additional directors—covering advocacy, community stewardship, finances, and member services—are appointed to two-year terms by the Executive Committee. Annual elections are held in August, and members serve two-year terms. Because board seats are voluntary, directors must demonstrate a high level of commitment and be nominated by two members of record from two different companies, not including their employer. Candidates are assessed based on their professionalism, track record of success, demeanor, industry knowledge, and governing potential as a director. Working together, the Board provides legal oversight, secures resources, strengthens member programs and services, upholds ethical integrity, promotes MBAKS to the public, and recruits new members—all while ensuring that the association's work aligns with its core values.
