These interactions include everything from our Annual Hill Day in Olympia and Elected Offi cials Reception to our Primary Contacts Program that pairs members with the legislators during the off -session. BRINGING HOUSING HOME This year the MBA also participated in the National Association of Home Builders' (NAHB) Bringing Housing Home TM legislative conference. On March 11, a group of members met with U.S. Representative Dave Reichert and Rep. Suzan DelBene's District Director Matt Isenhower to discuss federal issues impacting housing. Some of the issues addressed include regulatory reform and immigration and labor issues. Members also highlighted our region's buildable land supply challenges and the economic benefi ts of new home construction. These sit-downs enabled us to further build our relationships with these congressional offi ces and tell our stories about how federal regulations and policies aff ect our ability to build homes. GETTING INVOLVED Looking ahead, our General Membership Crab Feed — which draws dozens of elected offi cials each year — is another great opportunity to interact with state and local leaders. This year's Crab Feed is on June 9 at the Rosehill Community Center in Mukilteo. We are also working during the summer to ramp up your Association's Primary Contacts Program, a coordinated, grassroots eff ort designed to connect members directly with their state legislators. These member- to-legislator connections help your Association build working relationships and educate lawmakers about the impacts of regulations on housing and the overall business climate. Locally, municipal roundtables set up by your Association are another great way for members to connect with offi cials to discuss permitting and land use issues important to our industry. So far this year, the MBA has held roundtable meetings in Bellevue, Kent, Lynnwood, Redmond, Renton and Sammamish as well as with the Snohomish County Public Utilities District. Additionally, our various builder councils regularly invite local public offi cials to meet with members to discuss housing issues. These include the Residential Builders Council (covering King County), the Seattle Builders Council and the Developer-Builder Issues Committee (covering Snohomish County). MBA members and staff met with Congressman Dave Reichert during this year's Bringing Housing Home eff ort. Regular Association events provide members with valuable opportunities to interact with public offi cials and discuss housing issues.
