BY SHANNON AFFHOLTER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MASTER BUILDERS ASSOCIATION Hang Out at Camp MBA This Summer Remember that feeling on the last day of school right as the fi nal bell rang? MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Think back. Freedom was ours. We had the whole summer to lounge, explore and stay up late; fi lled with the anticipation of tomorrow. In adult land, things are a bit diff erent. Summer is full of professional commitments where long days are spent making a diff erence. Learning about all the projects driving individual and industry success feels good, because I know the most rewarding feeling at the end of the workday is pride in your eff orts and accomplishments — knowing how integral you are in meeting the growing housing demands of our region. Still, wouldn't it be fun to take time off and go back to those lazy, carefree days? We think so. That's why we're inviting you to participate in MBA Summer Camp. It's diff erent from what you may remember. First, you get to sleep in your own bed. Second, all activities are voluntary but highly encouraged. Finally, you don't have to keep a journal — unless you want to. Our goal is simple: to continue providing opportunities to connect with fellow members and decision-makers while helping you gain business by reaching new consumer audiences in impactful ways. Oh, and there's also quite a bit of fun to be had. What's on the docket? Always an attendee favorite, our annual Crab Feed and Elected Offi cials Reception brings together members and government leaders from Snohomish County on June 9 to converse and consume loads of delicious Northwest seafood. On July 16, bring your family to Remlinger Farms in Carnation for our Membership Appreciation Barbecue. Rain or shine, this will be a fun, activity-packed day. Need to work off all that food? Head to TPC at Snoqualmie Ridge on August 15 for the 2016 MBA Golf Tournament. We get to test the greens a week before the Boeing Classic, so please, try not to create too many divots. Of course, school is always in session for us grownups, so check our events calendar for the perfect time to earn that certifi cation or catch up on the latest code changes. We hope you take advantage of the revamped educational opportunities provided at the Housing Center and throughout our two counties. I hope to see you out and about this summer. Let's make time to celebrate the season and all our accomplishments in 2016. Our goal is simple: to continue providing opportunities to connect with fellow members and decision-makers while helping you gain business by reaching new consumer audiences in impactful ways." 7 06.16 master builder in every issue
