car since I have owned it, but you are the only person I would consider letting drive it. Yes, you can take it for the weekend.��� I was happy and suggested he bring it to lunch one day and we would go see our friend, eminent Porsche collector and National Concours Judge, Paul Risinger, to look it over. in a number of real estate projects. He stored the car at various places with his family and would drive it when he came down. He would visit us at least once a year when he was in the lower 48 states. During this time he took the car to a shop in Tacoma to be painted. This took awhile and when finally done he picked it up and put it back in storage again, except for the occasional drive while in the Seattle area. He moved back to Seattle in the early eighties and we resumed our monthly lunches. About 15 years ago he had the engine overhauled at around 230,000 miles. He drove it less and less but would never even consider selling it. It was always fun to drive and held many happy memories. We met for lunch and drove the car out to Paul and Shirley Risinger���s home and shop in Woodinville. The 356 had a racing seat belt on the driver���s side but no seat belt on the passenger side, so I ordered a period correct seat belt from Stoddard. Paul put the car up on the lift and checked the bulkheads under the rear jump seats to make sure it was sound enough for the seat belt anchors, which were still there. It passed the test for the weekend drive but Paul cautioned that the floor pans were getting pretty thin and should be replaced soon. With that blessing from Paul we planned to take the car on the Tour d���Elegance in a few weeks. [To Be Continued���] Forward to 2008. I called Lee and told him that I had an opportunity to participate in a 3-day tour with the Kirkland Concours d���Elegance for charity but that I did not have an appropriate car. I let him know that the tour leader told me a 356 would be such a vehicle. I said, "If you don���t feel comfortable with me driving the car that is no problem, but what do you think?"
