Griots has a room charge of $1800. This includes staffing of the retail store during the event. The staff is involved with prep and cleanup, plus keeping the building open and running during off hours. Does the Board feel this venue is worth the charge, or is there someone on the Board that has a relationship with Griots that can negotiate a better price? Should we proceed with Griots or look elsewhere? Special Events - Duncan Newell: Present - Report Submitted The July 16th event was held at Lets Do Lunch next to Chriss German Auto Service. The Olympic Peninsula Tour was led once again by Doug Fillbach and by all accounts it was a great day. The weather cooperated as well. There were close to 40 cars, and a BBQ at the end of the tour. Doug committed to do it again next year. The second was the first Cayenne Forest Tour. The weather was good on this date with generally positive comments from participants. There were 14 Cayennes when they departed the Super Mall. No one complained about their dirty Porsches. Received several emails from participants saying what a good time they had. Three tours remain on the schedule for this year: The Mt. Baker Tour in Aug., led by Eric Breidenbach: New Business Bill suggested a casual drive to Ridge Motorsports. He asked if there were any members interested in taking a drive to Shelton. There was interest. Suggested the right time would be after the pavement has been completed so we can drive on track (at slow speed). Bill will contact Ridge to get some estimated dates. Will be included in next tours article. Griots for Annual Banquet: We need to make the Annual Banquet interesting and affordable. Griots may or may not be the right place. Still evaluating where it might be. Bill suggested that the club should consider picking up the facilities charge for the event up to $2000. Will discuss this further at the next meeting. www.pnwr.org September 2011 45
