July 2nd was a significant date for all our track
based driving events. The new helmet requirements
went into effect. All helmets now used in club events
must be Snell 2005 or later. They can be SA, M,
or Karting varities. Our Saftey Chair was on-site
to make sure we all played by the new rules and
stayed safe.
Ive now been autocrossing for over ten years.
Every time I go, I learn something new. Now if I
could only learn to go faster.
There were a few very tightly contested classes. In GTO,
Matt Lowell took the top time of day in his RS America with
a 43.656 second run. He narrowly beat out Glen Hernandez
by .252 seconds. In P2, Alex Rossers 47.972 on his final run
beat out Jim Christensen by .045 seconds. The most exciting class though, had to be S4 where the top three were
separated by less than a tenth of a second. Walker Aumann
(46.076) took the class over Steve Downing (46.166) and
Linda Kornacki (46.172). It was a nail biter all the way to the
end. Steve and Linda both had their fastest times on their
final runs.
