Other than an old repair on the left front fender and the need for new floor pans and storage area pan the car was in pretty solid shape. The story now starts to escalate and take on a new shape. The floor pans and front storage pans were replaced and a couple of other minor repairs to the bottom of one door and fender well repaired also. Now what to do about the repairs needed on the front fenders, bumper and other minor areas of the front of the car before painting. The right thing to do would be to cut out the bad repairs and tig-weld and finish new sheet metal at those areas. This was done. Also the other minor repairs were done on the body to take all of the little dents and imperfections out of it. The car was starting to look like it had real promise to turn out as a very nice restoration and good example of an early 356 coupe. Kerstan Rillo and his team at Rillo���s Restoration disassembled the rest of the car to begin the re-repair of the fenders and a few other minor areas. I took the engine to one shop to have it surveyed and an estimate for repairs needed. The engine had been overhauled only about 30k miles ago and again about 15 years ago. I also took all of the seats and upholstered pieces to another shop for an estimate on what needed to be done for them. When I brought the pieces in and set them on the floor I told the owner I would like to get an estimate as to what was needed.
