Tech Talk Bill Rogers Well here I sit, still numb from too many Porsches and too few days to see them at Rennsport IV. What a glorious time it was, and the weather was fantastic! I felt like a kid on a sugar high the day after Halloween when it was over. I attended Rennsport III at Daytona in 2007 and I must say there were a lot more people at Laguna Seca than at Daytona. The Porsche corral was spectacular; PCA did a great job of setting up the parking and club reception areas and the workers shirts are good enough to wear in public. No cheesy t-shirt this time, it is a nice polo with the Rennsport logo embroidered on it. The sessions with the race engineers and Wolfgang Porsche were well attended and lively. I particularly liked Alwin Springers description of todays racing as socialized; we all have to be equal. Also Dr. Porsche had a huge smile on his face when asked if they would race Audi head-to-head in LMP1 in 2014 and a nice loud yeah, maybe for his answer. Its too bad we have to wait three years to have this much fun again! We actually got to start the Rennsport celebration on Wednesday when we found out the Downings and Bogaards were staying in the same hotel as the Dowds, who we drove down with, and Sheryl and I were staying in Sebastopol. We all parked carefully at the hotel that night only to find a small econobox parked next to one of us the next morning. As we were loading the cars the driver of the econobox arrived and the first words out of his mouth were You guys all going to Rennsport? Jeez I envy you, I used to have a Porsche so hope you wouldnt mind if I parked with you. Back to reality, we had a nice visit and presentation by the group at VRI on October 29th. They gave a very nice power point presentation and each of the respective group leaders explained the role on the team. These guys and gals are very well respected in the formula SAE world. There was a group from San Jose State at Rennsport and they were very impressed that our PCA region helped support WWUs efforts. They also respected them as competitors. On January 28th we will have our first tech session of 2012 at 425 Motorsports in Bellevue. Be sure and mark your calander for this one as it will be a good opportunity to get your driving apparel for the upcoming driving season. We will also be able to watch the start of the 24 Hours of Daytona while there. Watch the Spiel for more details. Keep the flash alive!! PNWR Name Badges Available!
