BY CHARLENE LAM COMMUNITY STEWARDSHIP SPECIALIST MBAKS E ach year, MBAKS members and dedicated community volunteers embark on a mission to construct wheelchair access ramps, free of charge, for those in need. These ramps serve as pathways to independence for individuals and families grappling with mobility challenges. Through their involvement in Rampathon, MBAKS members forge enduring connections and leave a tangible, transformative mark on our communities. This year, Rampathon season launched in April. Participating in Rampathon for the fourth time, eXalt Services built a ramp On-Ramp to Freedom With the 2024 Rampathon Season Looking to make a difference in your community? Under the leadership of Ramp Captain Michael Brannon, eXalt Services provided these Mountlake Terrace residents with a gateway to freedom. Joyce, confined to her home while awaiting bilateral hip replacement and lumbar fusion surgeries, had spent the last nine months restricted to her porch. Similarly, John, a disabled veteran in need of knee replacements, found himself limited in his movements. The ramp now affords Joyce the opportunity to move in and out of her home with ease, fostering a profound sense of liberation. "The freedom the ramp gives people like us is life-changing," John shares. "We're so excited," Joyce adds, "I really appreciate your services. When I get finished with my surgery, I plan on volunteering [for Rampathon]. I think it's awesome." Volunteers from Capital Benefit Group and Sound Capital Loans played pivotal roles in supporting eXalt Services during the construction process. Rampathon is a collaborative effort that underscores the importance of accessibility and community. This year, 28 ramps will be built by 23 member teams across 14 cities. MBAKS Community Stewardship Specialist, Charlene Lam, is passionate about coordinating her first Rampathon and creating an impact for her neighbors in King and Snohomish counties. Special thanks to Signature Sponsor Dunn Lumber for making Rampathon 2024 possible. Along with the dedication of MBAKS members, volunteers and community members, this Rampathon season (April - July) promises to be a resounding success. eXalt Services (pictured) was supported by Capital Benefit Group, Sound Capital Loans, and Dunn Lumber to help kick off our Rampathon season. This year, 28 ramps will be built by 23 member teams across 14 cities. 40 master BUILDER | SUMMER 2024 COMMUNITY
