King County Residential Buliders Council (RBC): On March 5th, 2024, the City of Bothell took a significant step by voting 5-1 to implement middle housing zoning code amendments. MBAKS will diligently oversee the implementation process and inform members when applications may be submitted under the updated zoning regulations. Seattle Builders Council (SBC): Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell unveiled the highly anticipated public review draft of the One Seattle Comprehensive Plan on March 5. This comprehensive plan is projected to generate over 100,000 new housing units within the next two decades, while also addressing state-mandated requirements for middle housing. Our initial assessment is that this plan represents a positive stride toward meeting the critical demand for housing. MBAKS, in response, submitted a letter that amalgamates the voices of various members. Throughout the summer, a series of reports will delve into specific aspects of the comprehensive plan.
