Tour Time Eric Kent & Miller ADAMS As I was writing this article, the planning was at full speed for the last tour of the 2011 season The Schindler Cannon Beach Tour. Duane and Dawn Schindler, who by their own admission Love the Cannon Beach Tour, are the overall Tour Leaders. The work they have put into the planning for this year is a testament to their enthusiasm. A new route has been laid out but the lunch location will be the same as in past years. Group Leaders have volunteered and we are really looking forward to a great weekend. Another change this year is the incorporation of the MotorsportsReg.com system for tour registration. Cannon Beach is the shakedown tour for use of this on-line registration management system. Those of you who are regulars at club track events are familiar with MotorsportsReg. com; we hope our regular tour participants will find the system beneficial. So far things are going well. If things work out, we will use on-line registration for most, if not all, 2012 Tours. My co-chair, Eric Kent, has handled the roll-out of our on-line registration plan way to go Eric!!! (or Parade) is a big part of the fun and we all took various routes. Michael and Ruth McBride, from Semiahmoo (Blaine, WA), were probably the first to leave but were delayed in Portland as they waited to get four new tires mounted on their Porsche due to a major problem. Their loaner was an Audi ugh!!! They were able to continue on into California and visited some national parks enroute to Flagstaff. Bob and Maxine Jones departed Friday Harbor with their route including overnights in Ontario, OR and Ely, NV. From Ely, Bob and Maxine drove down Nevada Hwy 318, the route of the famous Silver State Classic Challenge (SSCC), a 90 mile long high-speed event on a closed state highway. (This is an amazing event look for an article on the SSCC in a future edition of Spiel). The September schedule included the Porsche Escape in Flagstaff and our own Sun Mountain Tour. I missed the Sun Mountain Tour because I was with the PNWR attendees at Escape, Sept. 15th 17th. PNWR had four cars registered for Escape in Flagstaff, a very good turnout as compared to other Regions in our Zone. Getting to Escape I left Seattle with Michael Alhadeff and our route went through Ashland, OR, then over the mountain the next day to Klamath Falls, OR, continuing through Winnemucca, NV for an overnight in Ely, NV. We also drove Hwy 318, (fabulous), with our next overnight in Washington, UT. Our spouses, Marjorie Alhadeff and Cheryl Roberts were set to fly in on Wednesday the 14th and everyone was in Flagstaff for the start of Escape on Thursday Sept. 15th Escape is a social event with lots of traditional and self-guided tours, wine tours by bus, Cayenne offroad tours, museum visits and receptions. Saturday night was a traditional PCA closing banquet with various awards and door prizes. We all signed up 14 November 2011
