From the editor Barb Coplen My tenure as your Spiel newsletter editor will soon be over. I have resigned from this position and next month will be my last issue. I am hoping to go out with a bang by devoting the entire Dec. issue to the epic event that was hosted on the West Coast for the first time this year at Mazda Leguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, CA. I have gotten many photos and already have a few write ups in the works from various people about their adventures. I am hoping to get some amazing stories and fantastic photos. So my call goes out to any and all who participated in or attended either the Rennsport Reunion IV event or the Race Car Classic at the Quail Lodge to get things wrapped up and sent in to me by the 12th of November at the latest. It is going to be a challenge to get all the photos & stories arranged, so that is as far as I can push it. Another topic Id like to bring up this month is the amazing work that your club volunteers do to keep the club activities Spiel Submission Guidelines running, interesting and fun - and of course safe as well! The committee chairs, board of directors and many other volunteers organize the efforts, manage the expenses, market and coordinate to provide you with activities and events throughout the year. These people do this because it is what it takes to run the club. If an events runs smoothly, people enjoy themselves and the activity comes off with a fair degree of ease, it is all due to their efforts. Be sure to stop by and say thanks. Or better yet, when you stop by, offer to lend a hand to help out at the next event. You truly get so much more out of the club when you get involved. We have the annual planning meeting coming up in December. If you have any ideas for new activities, events, topics for tech sessions, know of a great place for a social gathering or destination for a tour, please send an email to any of the board members Deadline: 1st of the month preceding the issue. Send high resolution photos via email or on a CD/DVD as jpeg, png or tiff file. Articles preferred in electronic format in body of email, or attached as .pdf, .txt, .doc or .rtf - no formatting needed. Comments or suggestions for the Spiel are welcome and appreciated. Contribute - Its YOUR newsletter! SpielEditor@pnwr.org 10 November 2011 or committee chairs so it can be tentatively setup on the planning calendar. Were always open to new ideas and would love to hear from you. Be sure to get out and vote - both for your club board of directors and for your local and state government and the various initiatives up for a vote this fall. Since we all vote by mail now, check your mailbox for your ballot and fill it in and mail prior to the deadline. It is your opportunity to have a voice. Be sure to get out on those crisp fall days, when (or if) the sun happens to peak out for a while. Fall drives can be very beautiful and with the kids in school the roads can be less congested. But drive safe and watch for those slick spots! Catch you next month!
